Sam Burer is Tippie Rollins Professor in the Department of Business Analytics at the University of Iowa. He received his Ph.D. in Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and his research and teaching interests include analytics, operations research, management sciences, and optimization.

His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, and he serves on the editorial board of Operations Research, SIAM Journal on Optimization, Mathematics of Operations Research, Management Science, and Optima. He has also served as a Council Member of the Mathematical Optimization Society and as a Board of Directors Member of the INFORMS Computing Society.
